This massive Island is best enjoyed by few days or weeks of stay or exploration. Initially, my family had planned a 7days 6 nights stay to experience Phuket's top destinations, secret beaches, best seafood and the nightlife but unfortunately, our trip was shortened by a heartless bombing attack that was meant to scare us, tourists. We were devastated but made the most of our 3 days stay.
To be honest, I did struggle with finding the right place to stay here. There are more than 30 beaches in Phuket and I can't believe I can now confidently say this but Patong Beach is the best starting point. Here you can find hotel accommodation ranging from small sizes to luxury ones. Shopping malls and naughty nightlife are just walking distance. I really enjoyed shopping clothes and accessories here like what I love to do in Bangkok.
We stayed at Patong V Hotel booked via Booking.com and only paid B 1,623 for 3 nights. Speaking of stylish, clean and wide hotel rooms at affordable prices. We got comfortable 30-35 sq.m corner side room, ideal for a family of 2 adults and 1 terrific bossy toddler. Nothing like playing on the corner patio every morning even before mommy wakes up. It's about 1km away from Patong Beach and more than 1km away from the city. But it's always a good idea to rent a motorbike for only B 200 good for 24 hours and explore the city endlessly. We were able to visit neighboring beaches like Karon Beach with our motorbike and it was a fantastic ride. Is it just me or the winding mountain road in Phuket is beyond Engineering expertise? Nah, just kidding!
What I love about Karon Beach in favor of quieter places is that it is less crowded compared to the busier and noisier Patong beach. Say, what?! It's a very good spot for snorkeling and diving for the more adventurous one. The only setback would be you will only find limited choices of dining, shopping and nightlife entertainment as this is only a small city. Also just to point it out, the impact of the devastating tsunami in 2004 here in Phuket is clearly viewed from the uphill road in Karon Beach.
Also, in celebration of my 30th birthday and Thailand's special Mother's Day, I booked this trip with my family as a gift to myself. Lol. I still remember when I was a child, I used to believe in almost everything the Elderly were saying; I never go out on a trip a week before, on a day itself and few days after my birthday. I don't know why, but birthdays have funny ways of bringing strange strings of bad luck your way. haha. But now that I've passed that phase in my life, I've got a completely different outlook with regards to my birthday trips or celebration.
Birthdays for me are the great chance of fulfilling my unique mission and this one is no exception. I chose Phuket because it's always been on my list to travel to. I celebrated with my two favorite people in the world by watching the world go by (literally :-), travel to the most breathtaking views by motorbike and eat plenty of seafood and bbq. We did a lot of walking and shopping along Raumjai Section and stops every 10 minutes for their mouth-watering streetfoods.
Thanks a lot for reading!
love it! As always <3
